I am a chemist particularly interested in understanding bacterial infection strategies. During my PhD studies at the Chemistry Department - Universidad Nacional de Colombia, I characterized membrane ion transporters of the intracellular pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
After spending six-months as a visiting graduate student, I joined Argüello's Lab as a post-doctoral fellow to apply cutting edge biochemical/system analyses to understand how metal homeostasis is established. In particular, I am using metallo-proteomics and bioinorganic methods to define molecular elements contributing to cytoplasmic copper distribution in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
